I think Mythic stumbled onto a gem of an idea with Night of Murder's marks that needs to be examined and explored more -- because there's a lot of potential sitting in that thar gold mine. Many people have commented on the shift in scenario/oRvR dynamics that was caused by simply popping a symbol over some players' heads. In the live event, killing these guys only resulted in helping you to complete a quest for some meager XP and influence, but I'm wondering if the system could be tweaked and used in a new fashion.Consider it a bounty hunting system. It's freely optional to those who want to participate -- you go to your capital city and sign up with a bounty hunter (who acts as a toggle on/off for this system). From then on, whenever you went into RvR combat, both you and whoever else has opted in will have identifying symbols above their heads to signify special targets. This could be as simple as another influence reward bar (kill the other bounty hunters to get INF), or it could be a new system entirely, as you rack up bounty kills.
Or perhaps some players could put a bounty on the head of enemy players who have killed them a certain number of times (kind of a "revenge bounty" that would only be available under certain conditions) -- all players would see the bounty mark, and whoever killed the mark would get double XP/renown as incentive.
Or even consider a special scenario that's played a bit like that college "assassin" game, where you have one target you're gunning for to eliminate while someone else is gunning for you, easily marked with those floating-above-the-head symbols.
Or perhaps the game might mark players in PvP who haven't died in a long time -- a "survivor's mark" -- and amply reward players who kill them.
Maybe none of these are feasible, but I just wanted to show that there's a lot of ways this small mechanic could be used for greater PvP purposes in the future.

A solid idea. The shift in play was enjoyable and it was yet one more reason to engage in RvR. I like the idea of bounty hunting specific gear to gain as well

That would be a lot of fun.
I liked the way it was handled where it was just a quest, and anyone was a possible mark. Of course better/different rewards would be nice.
The "Revenge" mark sounds a lot like the "Domination" system from Team Fortress 2. In there if someone manages to kill you (or you kill someone else) 3 times in a game, then a mark will show over the killer's head and you get cool achievements and satisfaction if you manage to kill that person. How exactly that would work in a persistent world, I don't know, but if they could tie it in as some kind of grudge system, it would be pretty cool.

It's be really sweet if players could offer gold reward for killing an enemy player. Have the game take care of the mechanics of it all.
Player A Order goes to a bounty broker in Altdorf and selects an enemy player to place a bounty on their head. Player A deposits 25g with the Broker.
Player B Order kills the Destro player with the bounty on their head, and the broker automatically mails the reward to them.

This was done somewhat in SWG from what i understand. This would be a fun idea and add some twists to the gameplay.
For example Dissb is damn near unkillable and would happily pay some money for every time he died to whoever got the killing blow. just to know that the guy dies X number of times is great to me. Also in PT Lyrel is a real pain, on my DoK i am -35 to that guy using dammaz Kron. everyone already guns for these people but giving an added incentive would be awesome. I think its a great idea if it can be implemented.

I think this concept would be great.... you are declared a "Nemesis" that is your level and you must seek them out... either in a BG or RvR... (you will get notified if your Target is in "PVP" mode or not)
One thing you would have to do is somehow make this a long event to prevent situations where the target or hunter were not logged in and "someone" could not achieve the kill due to this. Maybe a simple option to "Renew a new assassin contract" to find a target that is currently active in PVP...
Getting a killing blow on a level 40 target might be quite hard, esp in Keep siege madness...
Regardless... love the idea...
I kinda thought that the Night of Murder was going to be this way but was more of a general kill "X targets" design...
