So I was re-reading through the Heavy Metal Grab Bag, and a few things stuck out at me:

  • "Just open up your Tome of Knowledge and click on the Live Events section. Take a moment to listen, and then check out the daily task that’s set before you."

  • That's a weird phrase: "Take a moment to listen" not "take a moment to read". Will this have some sort of audio component?

  • Daily tasks will change each day, take less than an hour to complete and be soloable.

  • Variety! I like it!

  • "The influence bar will fill just by completing the daily tasks. If you complete every task, you will fill your influence bar to 100% and more."

  • This doesn't say how many daily tasks it'll take -- all of them for the entire event? Half of them?

  • "About half of them are based in Reikland Factory, so make sure you queue up on the days that it’s required!"

  • This doesn't help get the game away from its scenario focus, but Reikland Factory's gotten a lot of popular mentions lately, and I don't blame Mythic for wanting to show it off.

  • "The Basic reward is a trophy, the Advanced reward is a cloak, and the Elite is the ability to play the two new Careers early!"

  • Strangely enough, the basic reward is the one I want the most. Cloaks are well and good, but since special cloaks tend to be stat-less, I can't imagine wearing one for any length of time versus the cloaks that boost my stats. The new careers -- well, it'd be cool, but I'm heading out for a week of vacation, so I doubt I can max out my influence bar by then.

  • "We don’t have plans to add another character slot for the new classes."

  • And that answers that long-standing question. If you're an altoholic and want one of every career on your server, well, now you're going to have to choose.

  • "The first half of the event will require you to log in every day to complete a daily task. Since the second half of the event will be taking place during the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US, we have decided that your Tome will list the remaining tasks available at that time. This means that you could then choose to do several tasks from the second half of the event in one day. Just remember, you must do all of the daily tasks in order to receive the elite reward, and during the first half of the event, these tasks will be switched out once a day around midday EST!"

  • This is a bit confusing. I have to do all of the daily tasks to get the elite reward, which makes it sound as though there's a checklist of tasks that I have to do all of to get there. But earlier in this FAQ, it sounded like I just had to max out an influence bar, not finish a To Do list?

I just hope the basic reward isn't a belt trophy as they are currently broken at the moment.

Sounds like it will be very difficult to max the influence bar without doing all the daily tasks. Might be possible (especially if the scenario gives influence), but it's easiest to just say "Do all the tasks."

I just hope they fix the @#$@%! CTDs and nvidia memory leaks soon. It would be nice to be able to play longer that 30 minutes at a time... >:(

Assuming they start tasks Tuesday and stop phase 1 the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, that'll be 9 daily tasks. I'm assuming that whatever of the 9 tasks you didn't do in those 9 days will spill over into the second half where there will you will have the option of doing the leftovers plus the new daily task. It gives people the ability to catch up if they miss a few days. Knight of the Blazing Sun, here I come!

Boy, that is confusing. My best guess would be that you get influence for completing the daily tasks (and ONLY those tasks - influence just for doing the scenario would make the tasks moot), and that there are exactly enough tasks to fill the influence bar.

Then again, the "100% and more" comment would have seemed to imply an extra. Or perhaps there are ALSO rewards for completing individual tasks, to provide an incentive for people who know they aren't going for the whole hog?

Destruction needs another Tank class, I need another hole in my head. I think there should of been more things they should be addressing.

Order DOES need another Tank class, and they can't release one without the other.

I always disliked that about the Cloaks (and the Masks), the fact that it replaces your current item. Couldn't it just be a unique "dying" pattern that is applied? As it stands I'll never wear a "unique" cloak because they are all statless.

OR make them trophies which are anchored in the same way current cloaks are (don't think it'd work for Masks). I would think this would be the easiest code wise to implement and it would show the pattern without losing the stats.

Sorry for double comment, I just thought of this right as I hit the button.
