It's a new year (2009, just in case you don't have one of those new-fangled "calendars" the whippersnappers are sporting), and in the spirit of new year's resolutions, I'd like to introduce a new... well, I guess you could call it "effort"... on behalf of the WAR blogging community -- WAR: THE AGE OF BLOGGING!With the departure over the past few months of a few big Warhammer Online blogs – some for personal reasons, some because of time constraints, and some because they stopped playing the game – there’s been a bit of a void in an otherwise strong WAR blogging community that could be filled by up and coming writers.
One of the things that the WAR blogging community has developed a positive reputation for is in its mutual support, encouragement and promotion of each other. In that spirit, during the month of January 2009 we want to encourage as many WAR players as possible to take up the almighty pen (or, y'know, keyboard) and try their hand at a Warhammer Online blog. In my opinion, an influx of additional voices and opinions can only strengthen the game and the community.
Let's break it down. For the month of January 2009, we declare it WAR: The Age of Blogging in an attempt to encourage players to start up blogs. This will be accomplished by the following:
1. Multiple WAR blogs have agreed to promote this idea today (or this week) on their blogs, calling for new writers to step up and add their voices to the fold by beginning their own blogs. If you'd like to be one of those new blogs, it's about the easiest thing to do. You can sign up for a free blog on Wordpress or Blogger or another blog host, pick a cool name and theme, and go to town!
I've written a guide for Wordpress blogs at Blog Warhammer -- read it if it helps you set up one!
2. We’d ask that any new blog add at least 3-5 posts before submitting their blog to Blog Warhammer (in the "Introduction" folder) for the rest of us to see.
3. In return, a gaggle of established Warhammer Online bloggers have committed to promoting these new blogs and winging them some decent traffic, as well as availing ourselves as resources if you need advice on how to get your blog going. In other words, you start and write the blog, and we'll get you some good traffic ASAP. It's always great knowing that there’s an audience out there reading -- and that provides plenty of incentive to write!
Blogs and authors that will be supporting this effort to help promote new blogs this month include:
- Myself (WAAAGH!)
- The Greenskin
- Wizards & Wenches
- Werit
- Stunty Stomper
- Way of the Chosen
- RP That Way
- Lagwar
- Reroller
- Tome of Knowledge
- Fires of War
- Obsessive Focus
- Blame the Healer
- Metro Gamer
- Warhammer TV
- Skurmish
- Echoes of Nonsense
- Lucky Number 2D6
So let me recap:Start a new WAR blog. Do your best by getting some good, interesting, entertaining content out there about Warhammer Online, and we'll get your back.
Sound good? Then hop to it!

Count me in Syp. I've actually been considering this for a while now, and the timing of this post seems extremely fortuitous.
I'll let you know the blog name once I have everything set up. Hopefully you will be seeing a lot more of me around.

Awesome! Make sure you introduce yourself and your blog, once set up and content-happy, over at Blog Warhammer as well! Let me know if you have any questions or need any help.

Hey Syp! The blog is up, the address isÂ
http://grumble-and-mutter.blogspot.com/
I have my first 2 posts up, with 2 more waiting in the wings. I'm going to tell you ahead of time, that it is still bare-bones, as this is my first attempt at a blog. But I'm a fairly quick learner and hopefully I'll be getting it looking professional in no time. Thanks again.Â

I can support this move with my site as well: www.warhammeronline.tv
Send me an email of what to say and I shall include it in the blog. The best blogs will get featured in a 700x90 banner across the site this month.
