Warhammer Fantasy 101

As the game approaches, many of you are eager to absorb the Warhammer culture and become educated in this rich fantasy universe, particularly if (like me) you're relatively new to the scene. So where to start?

Instead of typing up a 500-page thesis, I got lazy and looked around the web for the best Warhammer 101 guides, FAQs and intros to bring you up to speed:

• The Unofficial "Where To Start" Thread on WHA Forums - awesome write-up, pointing you to almost any subject about Warhammer you might so desire


• The Layman's Guide to Warhammer Factions - another epic FTW thread, this one focusing on the many factions you'll experience as you plow through WAR


• A Basic RP Guide To The Greenskins - kind of like role-playing toddlers with sharp knives. Or what about a Basic RP Guide to the Dark Elves? Alternatively, The Greenskin has a section called Greenskin Lore which is about the Lore of Greenskins written by The Greenskin.


• Gamer's Workshop - Guide to the Old World. I love maps.


• WHA Forum's Guide to the Races - and they ain't just talking about Greyhound racing.


• Nishlec's Guide to Warhammer also covers the races and a brief sketch of the WAR world.


• The World of Warhammer (online. craft.), available at Amazon for the AMAZINGLY low price of... um... guess it's out of print. But you can pick up used copies there! Used!


• Critical Hit's Warhammer Guide - races, timeline, deities, roleplay guide and the world.
