Because I'm largely an impatient man once I get my mind fixated on something, after talking about starting an alt yesterday I just couldn't hold off from doing so. Enter Thursday the Warrior Priest, whose sassy good looks are second only to her love of books. I imagine the reason she's out and about in the world, hitting things with hammers, is that she was a dedicated librarian who just snapped one day when people didn't keep quiet in the shelves. "You want me to stamp your books?" she mutters. "I'll stamp your FACE!"

She's got issues, but who doesn't?

So me and a few guildies who are in what they've been calling the "40 Club" (a club that keeps Syp out in the cold) rolled alts and palled around in Nordland for a while, doing PQs and whatnot. Two interesting events happened along the way:

The first was that a couple full warbands of T4 oRvRers had pretty much captured everything in the contested zones but were waiting for them to flip, so they decided to come on down to Nordland and enjoy some fierce RvR lake combat as chickens. It was a glorious, feathery massacre, with dozens upon dozens of chickens everywhere, along with T1 warriors looking for mortal combat. I hung around, healed as best I could, got killed a few times (being naked apparently is a big "HIT ME" sign to the enemy), and got almost a third of the influence needed for the basic oRvR influence reward.

The second is that I finally got to try my hand at Mythic's new "easy" PQ, this one in Chapter 2. Stage one was your standard "kill 35 things", stage two required nabbing a couple banners, and stage three was a champion fight (with some decent voicework -- why don't upper level PQs have voices of the enemy NPCs?). Nothing too outrageous, but me and my friend Risca were able to go through all three stages without a hitch, then rinsed and repeated it twice. Although, as advertised, the loot bag drops weren't great (a couple green bags, a couple white ones), the fact we could duo a PQ and actually finish it instead of remaining in stage one limbo was just a relief. I like having the choices between risk and reward with the different types of PQs, and I really hope we see Mythic getting these easy PQs into T2 and beyond pronto!

As for the Warrior Priest, so far so good. Apparently there's been a recent change to the books they carry so that they now give passive Righteous Fury regen, so that helps a lot if you have to be a dedicated healer and don't want to Supplicate every ten seconds. I'll probably level her as a Grace spec, toeing the line between healing and damage, because that's what I usually do if presented with a hybrid class.

Do you still get full xp/inf for killing a rank 40 chicken?

I started as Grace on my WP. After a while though it wasnt giving me the healing i needed to get decent xp/renown in sc's and orvr, so I went salvation.

Generally most WP's are Salvation at 40, mainly because in order to run crypts / warpblade you HAVE to be salvation spec with book and hammer.

Personally, if your gonna go grace to remain in grace and just concentrate on leveling I'd go 2hander, kill them much faster.

Yeah, about a WB of Vigilance Alliance came down to Festenpaltz the other day to play. We had everything and were bored, no destro to play with. Got a couple of chicken tome unlocks and had some fun clucking destro to death.

Glad to see another WP join us, welcome brother, let Sigmar bless you.

Welcome to the ranks of the Warrior Priest, Syp. :) Glad you're enjoying it so far.

As Alchemda above points out, many WPs are Salvation at 40 primarily for gear farming in the tougher dungeons. Grace's healing is okay, but since it mainly requires you to be in melee range, you're liable to get one-shotted by nasty AoEs and cone effects from bosses and mobs in Warpblade or Sigmar's Crypts. I actually blogged about my experience re-speccing to Salvation strictly for a PvE dungeon yesterday, too.

As for leveling, I was full Wrath (Hammer of Sigmar ftw!) until the 1.06 patch came out, then I respecced to Grace after it got pumped up in the patch at 33-34. I enjoyed both, though Wrath is hands-down ownage 1v1 and more mediocre healing, but both level pretty quickly so I'd consider them interchangeable for soloing. If you're duoing or grouping all the time, Salvation or Grace will work rather well. If you solo a lot, I'd stick with Wrath in the lower ranks (or Grace at higher levels).

Enjoy the hammer time! :)
