Despite patching and heavy mailbox lag, I had a few hours last night to create and equip my new Dwarf Slayer, Wotworks (a sort-of pun on "wetworks"), and take him out for a drive. I had a bit of fun making him look as eccentric as possible: the eyepatch, Snorri's Spikes and the keg in his beard. I also went for minimal tattoos, something I regretted when I realized, in-game, that I'd be staring at a hairy dwarf back for the next 40 levels. Such is life.I had decided a while ago that Wotworks was going to take up my own RvR-Only Challenge, which meant in all likelihood that everyone else creating Slayers and Choppas this week would outlevel me within a few hours. I felt it in the RvR lakes, as geared up rank 10 Choppas made short work of my nearly-naked rank 4 self. The Slayer has a very suicidal feel to it, which is fine with me -- just wade in, try to do a lot of damage, and be okay with dying a lot.
I also took up cultivating/apothecary with Wot, partially to see what the changes were like, partially to make dyes, and partially to have potions to keep me alive for an extra two seconds. So far, so good -- I've made over a half-dozen bright yellow dyes, which makes me all sorts of happy.
I can sense that doing solely RvR will be a lot tougher -- right now I'm gaining renown far faster than XP -- but it's also a bit of a relief to have a smaller game focus. I'm just not worrying about PvE quests and PQs and gear associated with that, nor all the Tome unlocks that I'm doing with Syp. Just lots of fighting, renown gear, renown points and hopefully influence gear.

Good luck with the Challenge. The doldrums of Tier 2 can be maddening at times, but it should be a lot easier riding the Slayer Choppa Wave. Good luck

I tried, I tried real hard but I could not do the RVR challenge. I felt too hindered, I got to lvl 12 and tried to do it in T2 and it was stupidly difficult. I said "f-this" and started doing quests. While I'm not doing JUST RVR, RVR is my main focus. The only time I do quests is when oRVR isnt happening, and Scenarios arent popping.

The RvR Influence gear was icing on the cake that really made oRvR challenge easier for me. The rewards have been excellent and helped me to focus on the RvR lakes. Also, T2 doesn't have to be a drag, depending on the server and your playing time.

The challenge is a blast. I really have to think about how to spend my time. It's alot better being on an open server. When I'm waiting to be qued for a scenario and not doing open RvR I just roam the lands looking for people to nuke. I'm also coming into my own on the wizzie. High combustion is alot of fun especially on crits!
Good luck Syp!

I found the RVR challenge to be a lot of fun depending on the career you chose , and the time you play like Maladorn had mentioned. For some reason once you reach T2 it feels like you, smack straight into a brick wall going 100mph. I still have 2 careers slowing making there way through T2 unfortantely they will be there for sometime now that the Slayer is here ;P The gear awarded in each tier is definietly a nice reward for this challenge though. Best of luck with it Syp. If you ever need an extra slayer to run around with for some good ol' Destro stumpin look me up on Balrik.
